M Core Celebrates the Opening of New UCB Culinary School and Eatery at M Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre
This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking partnership we want to support – one that brings skills, opportunity and renewed energy into the heart of the local area.
LCP, part of M Core, is delighted to mark the official launch of University College Birmingham’s new culinary school and adjoining eatery at M Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre. The 3,264 sq. ft, purpose-designed training facility has been taken on a 10-year lease and represents a significant investment in both local skills development and the long-term vitality of the centre.
The opening event, led by Saqib Bhatti MP, showcased the transformation of the units and the remarkable progress made since the project began earlier this year. The newly created culinary school, Chelmsley Starters, now sits alongside Bluebell Wood, offering fully funded training programmes for those entering the hospitality sector as well as individuals looking to enhance existing skills. With major employers such as Birmingham Airport, the NEC and Resorts World within easy reach, the initiative is set to play a valuable role in strengthening the regional talent pipeline.
Students took centre stage on launch day, preparing a selection of dishes that demonstrated both the quality of the training and the ambition behind the project. Local authority leaders and representatives from UCB praised the collaboration that enabled the development to progress at pace and deliver immediate benefits to the community.
Rob Ellis, Director at LCP, part of M Core, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to welcome UCB’s culinary school and Bluebell Wood to Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre. This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking partnership we want to support – one that brings skills, opportunity and renewed energy into the heart of the local area. The commitment shown by UCB and its team has been exceptional, and we’re confident this facility will become a real asset for both residents and employers.”
The project aligns with LCP’s strategy to enhance the centre with uses that serve the community while driving footfall and creating sustainable long-term value for occupiers. With strong early engagement from local residents and businesses, the new arrivals have already established themselves as an important addition to the retail and service mix at M Chelmsley Wood.
LCP, part of M core looks forward to continuing its work with UCB and regional partners as the school develops and further opportunities for collaboration emerge.
