On Your Marks... LCP Sponsors Race
Athletes are being urged to get on their marks for the Dudley Kingswinford Running Club's 10k road race after London & Cambridge Properties (LCP) signed up as main sponsor of the event.
The LCP DK10K race takes place on the evening of Wednesday, May 6, and hundreds of athletes are expected to sign up for the annual spectacular.
The race, which was launched 28 years ago by Dick Blackburn, former chairman and founder of the running club, will also raise much-needed funds for Action Heart, a charity that provides rehabilitation for heart surgery patients and individuals who have suffered a heart attack.
Keen to support the popular local event, industrial property manager Andrew Preston we would not only sponsor the it but also enter a team of 10 runners to take part in the race, which starts at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club, Swindon Road, Wall Heath, at 7.15pm.
"This race is incredibly popular locally, attracting hundreds of runners, and is certainly one of the key running events in the area, so we were only too pleased to offer full sponsorship," he said.
Thanking LCP for its support, Gary Bonner, race organiser, said corporate sponsorship was crucial to enable the event to go ahead.
"It takes a lot of time to organise a race such as this so we are very grateful to have LCP's support," he said.
"Anyone wishing to take part should sign up for the event now because there is a 1,000-runner limit. It is always a great race and we are looking forward to staging it again this year."
