LCP Welcomes £2.2M Council Funds
Skelmersdale Limited Partnership, a joint, long-term investment venture between London & Cambridge Properties (LCP) and Columbia Threadneedle Investments, has welcomed news that West Lancashire Council has pledged £2.2 million funds for public realm improvements in the town.
As owners and investors behind the £4 million leisure scheme at the Concourse Shopping Centre in Skelmersdale, the Partnership said authority's announcement that it would, in principle, invest the money to construct new public space would bring myriad benefits to the town.
It would also complement its plans to regenerate the Concourse Shopping Centre, which will include a £4 million leisure development with 20,000 sq ft multi-screen cinema and restaurants, plus £2 million worth of additional improvements to the malls, which house more than 70 shops, and public spaces.
Jo Salmon said: "We look forward to talking to the council about their proposed work to see how we can work together on a fully co-ordinated basis.
"We believe the council's pledge to support in principle the funding of improvements to the town centre and its infrastructure is a really positive sign."
A judicial review has been launched into the decision by West Lancashire Council to approve a rival scheme in the town by St Modwen. The first stage of the legal challenge will be heard early in the new year at the High Court.
"We are committed to improving the retail and leisure offer in Skelmersdale and we are very working hard to attract new retailers and businesses here as part of our scheme," said Jo.
"Our regeneration proposals for the Concourse are our main focus, and we are keen to work with other organisations such as the council to ensure that the town is able to thrive and be a vibrant place in which to work, live and shop.
